Add a Quote(Joey has just been freed from being ensnared in barbed wire in No-Man's Land, by both a British and a German soldier, during a mini-truce) British soldier: "Look at that horse! Look at the muscles he's got! Them long legs! They're made for runnin', horses. Runnin' away from danger." German soldier: "Running away's all they have." British soldier: "And yet, we taught them opposite... Runnin' into the frey..." German soldier: "War horse." British soldier: "...War horse..."

Comment
Add a CommentThe horses in this movie were trained without injury. Joey, the War Horse of the title, spends his youth on a Devon Farm, and then is sent to war as a cavalry mount charging machine guns - in his case, straight through enemy lines to be used as a beast of burden by the German army. His spectacular run back through No Man's Land ends with Joey lying tangled in barbed wire. He survives, but the tragedy of countless beloved family horses that did not is well represented in this film.
Horse and human love can be incredible. Separated during war and reunited later.
my whole family saw this movie and loved it. people that love horses will love this movie ( that is not me i dislike horses very much because there was that time where my granny smith's horse abe poope- ....oh.......never mind i have to puke one sec........................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................ahhhhhhhh sorry to keep you waiting but anyway this is a good movie
Good family movie.
un film correct surtout si vous aimez les animaux. Beaux paysages s'inspirant en partie du Devon & Dartmoor mais je m'attendais davantage de Spielberg. En fait une belle histoire mais pas plus
wow good movie
War Horse has everything in it. The story has elements from Yellow Rolls-Royce, Doctor Zhivago, Seabiscuit and many other stories related horses, dogs and WWI shown on TV and movies. The most striking element is from a play called Caucasian Chalk Circle by the German modernist playwright Bertolt Brecht. The movie has a changing point of view. I would rather follow the story from one point of view for surprising result. The dynamic point of view during the movie made me lost interest in the story and made the story very predictable. One more prediction I was expecting was the love story between the grand-daughter of a jam maker and our soldier if the girl was older than she was in the movie; perhaps they did not want this since it would turn War Horse into Yellow Rolls-Royce movie.
Spielberg always tells a good straight ahead story. Now he takes on a book by Michael Murpurgo, an excellent British children's author.
Long and boring.
i loved this movie!!!!! sooooooo sad !!! i did not think it was predictable.... okay, sorta! so many people die! but nice ending with the sunset. fav part when albert's freind dies. :( MUST WATCH!! another fav part when the german soldier and the english solier untangle joey from the barbed wire! so sweet.
